AEW Executive Nik Sobic Departs: What It Means for AEW Fight Forever & Future Partnerships (2026)

In a surprising turn of events, it's not just Powerhouse Hobbs making headlines for leaving AEW this week. A significant departure has also occurred at the executive level. According to a report by Alex McCarthy from Wrestling Intel, the company has officially parted ways with Nik Sobic, who held the position of Senior Vice President of Business Development, Partnerships, and Video Games.

Nik Sobic was an integral part of All Elite Wrestling since its inception in 2019. He contributed immensely to the creation of the AEW Fight Forever video game, which launched in 2023. His role wasn’t limited to gaming; he also played a vital part in organizing live events and overseeing various operational aspects of the company.

In a revealing interview on the AEW Unrestricted podcast earlier in 2023, Sobic shared insights about his experience working on the minigames featured in Fight Forever. He expressed, "Not all development meetings are fun, but one of the best and most enjoyable times was during the brainstorming session for minigames. We came up with around 100 ideas!"

He continued to mention his enthusiasm for a specific minigame titled "Shida’s slugfest," saying, "I advocated strongly for it, and it brought me joy to see that Adam Cole appreciated it too. While it might have raised some eyebrows, it's definitely my favorite. I can’t pretend to be impartial about it!"

Beyond his tenure at AEW, Sobic has also been associated with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, alongside other ventures linked to the Khan family. As noted on his LinkedIn profile, since 2022, he has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer at Vino Dolina, which is described as a horse ranch and a prospective vineyard located in Ponte Vedra, Florida, near Jacksonville.

This shift in leadership at AEW raises questions about the future direction of the organization. With notable figures departing, what does this mean for the company’s creative vision and business strategies moving forward? Feel free to share your thoughts—do you think these changes will impact AEW for better or worse? Let's discuss!
